asher is a queer artist located in the PNW.
To be thoroughly known by another and be understood can be a rare experience for gender nonconforming people. My work exposes moments of the private sphere through paintings using a vibrant color palette and a graphic style. Color is embraced in my paintings because of the connections between the LGBTQ community and vibrant, unapologetic use of color; particularly the colors purple and pink. Queer experiences have historically been relegated away from the public’s eyes, and through depicting intimate moments between trans people I can offer levity to the trans experience, including our relationship to our bodies, sex, and the spaces we inhabit.
